Fission Bio
A protein-protein interaction inhibitor targeting the DRP1-FIS1 pathway to block pathological mitochondrial fission, aimed at age-related and neurodegenerative disease.
Documentation note
CerebrumDAO's own page names this project "Fission Bio," with Brian Magierski as CEO and Luis Rios as Co-Founder & PI. VitaDAO's forum, discussing what appears to be the same DRP1-FIS1 program, calls it "Fission Pharma" and names Rios himself as "Founder and CEO." No public source reconciles the two company names or the CEO discrepancy.
The science
Problem
Chronic inflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction implicated across neurodegenerative diseases (ALS, Alzheimer's, Huntington's, Parkinson's, MS).
Approach
A brain-penetrant small-molecule analog of P110, a DRP1-FIS1 interaction inhibitor originating from Stanford research.
Why CerebrumDAO supported it
Not publicly documented beyond the project page's framing ("13 years of research, 20 publications" behind the P110 peptide, individual citations not linked).
